For movie night

Tonight’s pick, without the argument.

Make a poll from your watchlist. You both swipe yes or no on the trailers, and SortBridge lands on one film, with where to watch it.

One email when the TestFlight opens, one when it hits the App Store. Nothing else, and no sharing your address: here’s the policy.

A SortBridge poll between you and Sam, 1 of 5: Red, White & Royal Blue (Matthew López, 2023, on Amazon Prime Video), with its official trailer ready to play, the description below it, and No and Yes buttons.

Four steps, one film

  1. 1

    Pick a few

From your watchlist, or search for any film or show.

  2. 2

    Send it over

Text the link to your partner, or drop it in the group chat.

  3. 3

    Swipe on trailers

Yes or no, alone. Nobody sees anyone else’s answers.

  4. 4

    End on one

Liked several? Rank them. One wins, with where to watch it.

It always ends on one.

A match can still leave you with three. Here, if you both liked several, you each put them in order and ranked choice picks the winner, with where to watch it and a runner-up for next time.

  • A trailer and description on every card, so you know what you’re saying yes to.
  • Nobody peeks: you see how far the other has got, never their answers.
  • Works for a series to start together, too.
You're watching Red, White & Royal Blue, on Amazon Prime Video. You both put it first. The trailer and description follow.

Nothing in common? A second chance.

You each see the films the other liked and you passed on: “The other one of you liked this. Would you go along with it?” Often one of you will. If not, the closest you got wins.

Second chance: the other one of you liked All of Us Strangers. Would you go along with it? The trailer and description are on the card, with Still no and I'd go along buttons.

Questions

Is this a Tinder for movies?

Sort of. You each swipe yes or no, but on films from your own watchlist rather than a whole streaming catalogue, and it doesn’t stop at a match. If you both liked several, you rank them and one wins.

What if we like completely different things?

There is a second chance. The films one of you liked go round again, and the other sees "The other one of you liked this. Would you go along with it?" If still nothing is common, the most liked film wins as the closest you got.

Does it show where to watch it?

Yes. Films and shows show where to stream, rent or buy them in your country, from TMDB and JustWatch data.

Where do the films come from?

Usually your watchlist: the films and shows you saved from TikTok, Instagram and Reddit. You can also search for any title while setting up the poll.

Does my partner need the app?

Yes, for now. Everyone votes in the SortBridge app on iPhone, which is in private testing. Join the waitlist to be told when it opens.

More on this: a Tinder for picking a movie together, how group choice works, and a watchlist from the reels you save.

Be there when it opens.

Private testing on iPhone. Free while in testing.
