Guide
SortBridge vs swipe-to-match movie apps: which one do you need?
SortBridge always ends on one film. You swipe on titles you already wanted to see, saved from TikTok, Instagram and Reddit, and if you both like several, ranked choice picks the winner. Swipe-to-match apps like Matched and ReelMatch work differently: they show you suggestions and tell you when you both said yes.
Facts about Matched and ReelMatch come from their App Store listings.

What happens after you match?
This is where SortBridge is different. If several titles get a yes from everyone, everyone puts them in order, and ranked choice picks one winner, with a runner-up. If nothing gets a yes from everyone, there is a second chance: each person sees the most liked titles they said no to, with a line like "2 of 3 liked this. Would you go along with it?" Either way, the poll ends on one title. Step by step: how swiping to pick a movie works.
Where does the list come from?
Usually from the films and shows you saved from TikToks, reels and Reddit threads. Share a post to SortBridge and it lists every title named, then files films and TV into their own lists with where to watch them. See building a watchlist from the reels you save. You can also search for any title while setting up a poll.
What are swipe apps built for?
Discovery. You open the app and start swiping straight away. Matched learns your taste and lets you filter by mood and streaming service. ReelMatch plays a trailer for each title and learns from your swipes. They suit a night when neither of you has anything in mind. SortBridge suits a night when you have saved plenty and need to pick.
Which should a couple use?
If you already save films from TikTok and Instagram, SortBridge: your poll is ready-made, and it ends on one. Found something in another app? Search for it while setting up the poll, next to what you saved. More on the movie night picker, or the same poll for a book club. Logging what you watch? See SortBridge vs Letterboxd.
Questions
Which swipe-to-match movie apps are there?
Matched and ReelMatch are two on iPhone. Each shows you films and shows to swipe on, and tells you when you and someone else both said yes. Both are free to download, with paid upgrades.
Does SortBridge suggest films I have not heard of?
No. A SortBridge poll uses titles from your own lists, or ones you search for. It is for choosing between films you already want to see, not for finding new ones.
Can more than two people use a SortBridge poll?
Yes. Two people is the most common poll, but a whole group can join. Everyone swipes alone, and nobody sees how anyone else voted.
Does everyone need the app?
Yes. Everyone in a poll needs SortBridge on an iPhone. It is in private testing for now, so join the waitlist to be told when it opens.
Try it on your own list.
